"… what interested me most about this piece was the eventual look that Donald Judd might have had on Bruno Munari's CUBE ashtray. The transformation of the ingenious functionality of a design object into an already historical sculptural postulate. The working title of this work of mine was Munari / Judd. Then I decided on the typology of the beautiful stone that gave it body and tried to recover the functionality lost by the reuse of the pallets that carry it." Julião Sarmento
